Q-SELECTS 2005 WSI TEAM

It's with great pride that the Q-Selects organization, playing under the East Coast Selects banner, unveil their 2005 born team that will be participating at the World Selects Invitational tournament in Philadelphia from May 2-6, 2020. We've been working extremely hard to put the best possible team together that we feel will be extremely competitive at this year's event. The WSI features 40 of the very best teams from not only Canada and the USA, but also Europe. There are no easy games at this tournament so the team we've put together needed to have a multitude of players that could play any style of hockey. Having had the experience of participating in last year's event with my 2004 son, I knew going to this year's event with a one dimentional team isn't a recipe for success. As a team, you need to be able to bond quickly, play a skilled game, but also be able to handle yourself physically because there is going to be some teams there ready to physically intimidate their opponents. We feel we've addressed all our needs and we are going there to hopefully be extremely competitive.

Without delaying any further, please see below for our teams roster!

focused. He is a team player and likes to motivate his teammates. Nicolas is in great physical condition.
Nicolas has very strong skating skills and is known to be one of the fastest skating goaltenders of his age
group. Because of his strong focus, he has also mastered the technical aspect of the goalie position.

DEFENSEMEN

#24 Marc-Olivier Beaudry
Birth Date: July 6, 2005
Height: 5'11" / 180 cm
Weight: 157 lbs / 71 kg
Shoots: Left
Position: Defenseman
Current Team: CCL Dynamiques BTAAA
Province/Nation: Quebec, Canada

Marc-Olivier is a defensively responsible defenseman that is mature beyond his young age. He's a fluid
skater which shows in his mobility and his ability to not get beat 1 on 1. He reads and anticipates the
play in front of him well, but he's known for his great first pass which turns defense into offense very
quickly. Marc-Olivier has a very simple character, serious about his studies in school and also about his
hockey training. His work ethic demands respect from his coaches and teammates as there's not many
that outwork him in practices or games.

#29 Timo Buenzli

Height: 6'0'' / 184 cm
Weight: 165 lbs / 75 kg
Shoots: Left
Position: Defenseman
Current Team: ZSC Lions U17 Elite
Province/Nation: Switzerland

Timo is a good skating defenseman with good skills and great hands. Opposing teams need to be aware
of his abilities to shoot the puck from the point as Timo has a good wrist and slapshot. Timo has a high
level of playing intelligence and hockey IQ that helps him move the puck to the forwards. Timo can also
play a strong physical game so opposing forwards need to always be aware of where he is on the ice.

Weight: 172 lbs / 78 kg

Thomas-Jacques plays with a good calm and control to his game. Very poised with the puck, good
decisions, protects the puck well and doesn’t cough it up or force plays that aren’t there. Very smooth
and simple, but can stretch a pass or find an open teammate at an above average level. Many scouts just
really like his calm demeanor and style of play.

#5 Étienne Morin
Birth Date: March 9, 2005
Height: 5'11" / 180 cm
Weight: 177 lbs / 81 kg
Shoots: Left
Position: Defenseman
Current Team: CIHA White Midget AAA
Province/Nation: Quebec, Canada

It’s going to be Étienne’s third appearance at the WSI. He attended Bolzano’s and Chamonix’s
tournaments and was selected on the North American All Star team in both events. He was selected to
play with the 04’s in Philadelphia WSI last year but couldn’t attend because of some waiver rule
misunderstanding.

Étienne played in many big tournaments like the Brick in Edmonton, The Show in Minnesota, The Triple
Crown in Montreal and Chicago and also played in the famous Tournoi International de Hockey Peewee
in Quebec City. Known for his “crazy poise with the puck”, he is a good skater who likes to carry the puck and to join the
offense, but he always stays aware of his defensive responsibilities. He plays at his best when the game
gets physical.

Étienne is the only skater born in 2005 who plays upgraded Major Midget AAA in the Hockey Eastern
Ontario league this season. He is actually ranked 7th for goals and 15th for points among all 106
defensemen in the league despite also being the youngest.

#18 Jacob Silverman
Birth Date: January 27, 2005
Height: 5'9" / 175 cm
Weight: 140 lbs / 63 kg
Shoots: Right
Position: Defenseman
Current Team: Lakeshore BTAA
Province/Nation: Quebec, Canada

Jacob is a patient and smart 2-way defenseman that loves the physical part of the game.
His calmness and confidence on the ice and ability to read the play are great assets to his team. He is
best known for his offensive instincts, for winning puck battles along the boards, and for his puck
control. Jacob has impeccable timing at knowing how and when to take the body and can play the
physical game as well as anyone in his age group much like his twin brother Daniel who plays the
forward position. Forwards will quickly learn that they need to keep their heads up when coming up
against him. Although Jacob plays Bantam AA, many will make the mistake of taking his game lightly
which they will soon regret. Don’t be surprised if this tournament is Jacob’s coming out party!

FORWARDS

#4 Nathan Baril
Birth Date: February 16, 2005
Height: 5'8" / 173 cm
Weight: 150 lbs / 68 kg
Shoots: Left
Position: Forward
Current Team: Mortagne Noir & Or BTAAA
Province/Nation: Quebec, Canada

Nathan is a fast and fiery skating forward. His tenacity and work ethic almost equals his desire to
compete and win. Blessed with good vision and an excellent shot, Nathan can also share the puck with
his teammates, which makes him a sure shot threat in the offensive zone, for which his offensive
statistics from Peewee onward speak for them self. Nathan is a point producer as he led the Province in
scoring both of his years in Peewee and is continually on top of the scoring leaders in Bantam. In short,
no other 2005 born has accumulated more points than Nathan the past 4 years in Quebec!
Nathan is also a natural leader as he's continually part of his team’s leadership group, being named
captain in 2 out of the last 3 years.

Nathan was selected as an under aged player to the Quebec games
and has won a bronze medal twice at the Dodge Cup Provincials. At the Triple Crown in Chicago,
Nathan's team finished 4th overall and he finished as the tournaments 2nd leading scorer. Other notable

country. Keanan was a standout and was mentioned in the New England Hockey Journal. Keanan also
played in the Elite Prospects Tournament in Ontario in 2019.

This season, 2019/2020, his play on the ice has been nothing short of impressive. Playing against 2002's,
2003's, and 2004's, his speed and agility gives him the ability to control the game at a different level. Keanan
is deceptively strong on his skates and is able to win the majority of battles he's involved in. His speed
allows him to get himself open to make solid passes and take good shots on net. Keanan might only be
5'8'' but he plays like he's 6'0''. Playing this year in front of many Prep School coaches has put Keanan
in high demand.
